London Luton Airport (LTN) is one of the
UK's largest airports, carrying 9.5 million passengers in 2011. The airport is
a major base for low-cost or "no-frills" air travel and is
located just 56km (35 miles) North-West of Central London. London's Luton
Airport is popular with budget travellers and is within easy reach of Central
London by public transport.
Luton Airport by Train
A regular shuttle bus links the airport
to Luton Airport Parkway train station at intervals of about 10 minutes. From
there, frequent rail services depart to Central London and take as little as 21
minutes with East Midlands Trains and 25 minutes with First Capital
Connect. First Capital Connect services connect to stations including St.
Pancras International, Farringdon, London Bridge and Blackfriars in Central
London. Trains run throughout the day and night at a standard single costs
£13.50.
Luton Airport by Coach
easyBus offers a high-frequency, low-cost
express bus service between Central London and Luton Airport. There are stops
at Brent Cross, Finchley Road, Baker Street, Oxford Street/Marble Arch and
London Victoria. Fares start at £2 (online price) one-way.
The Green Line 757 coach service
goes to Victoria Coach Station, with stops at Brent Cross, Finchley Road
Station, Baker Street, Hyde Park Corner and Marble Arch. Services run 24 hours
a day, every 15 to 20 minutes during the day and every half hour in the
evening. The journey takes one hour 15 minutes. A standard one-way ticket costs
£17.
Terravision offers a low-cost coach service into
Central London from Luton Airport. At peak times, buses depart every 20 minutes
and stop at Brent Cross, Baker Street and Marble Arch on their way to Victoria
Coach Station. A standard one-way ticket costs £15.
Luton Airport by Taxi
There are usually taxis queuing for
customers at Luton Airport. Enquire with the driver or Mini-cab Company
beforehand, to find out how much your journey will cost. A metered trip to/from
Central London will cost around £80. Only use a reputable mini-cab and never
use unauthorised drivers.
Accessible Transport
First Capital Connect's staff are trained to help passengers
with accessibility requirements. You should contact them at least 24 hours
before travelling.
easyBus vehicles are not currently able to carry wheelchairs.
Green Line 757 coaches are fully accessible to
wheelchairs users. To ensure that an accessible coach is available for your
journey, you should call at least 24 hours in advance on 0844 801 7261.
